Karen Rix - Coach – Junior
I started Calisthenics when I was 8, competing in Ballarat several times with a Melbourne based club and also representing ACT in the Intermediate National Team. After 3 years off to live in America I returned to Australia and moved to Whyalla where I joined the Senior team and also coached for 7 years (before Levels were introduced). While in Whyalla I had my first 2 children, competing while 5 months pregnant with my son! In 1990 I moved to Adelaide and joined the Northern Districts Calisthenics Club where I proudly competed until I was 43 years old. My last year of competition saw me compete in the same team as my daughter Jess. I had 2 more children, bringing my second daughter into the Calisthenic world. I was also on the Committee but my desire to Coach was always there so I pursued it and began coaching again in 2008. At the end of 2009 Ashleigh and I made the hard decision to change clubs. We joined Jem Calisthenics College where I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to Coach Subbie 2 and Pupil Skills.
